UK vs Australia: Which is Better for Indian Students?

Both the UK and Australia offer world-class education, but they cater to different goals.
Time & Cost
The UK offers 1-year master's programs. This means you pay less in living costs and enter the workforce a year earlier. Australia's master's programs are typically 1.5 to 2 years, allowing more time for internships and networking.
Post-Study Work
- UK: Graduate Route gives 2 years (3 for PhD).
- Australia: Subclass 485 gives 2–4 years depending on your degree level and location (regional areas offer longer visas).
PR Pathways
Australia has a clearer, points-based pathway to Permanent Residency (PR). The UK is generally harder for long-term settlement unless you secure a sponsored Skilled Worker visa.
Climate
This sounds trivial, but it matters. The UK is cold and grey. Australia is warm and sunny. Think about where you will thrive.
